[DogWhispererFans] Sox n Miss Kitty

Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

We were all the porch together. Sox and Miss Kitty were face to face
sniffing each other and then Sox licked her – LOLOL!

Earlier Sox kept bowing to Miss Kitty, being very gentle, and I had to laugh
I said,"Sox, honey, I don’t think she speaks dog."

Re: [DogWhispererFans] Re: need help!!! Damaged service dog by cop attack

Hi Dave
=A0
I have been following your story and I applaud you for taking Eddie to the =
behaviourist. I think if you work with Eddie and regain your alpha position=
through bonding exercises and taking on the alpha responsibilities that Ed=
die can be helped.
=A0
I remember a Cesar episode where he dealt with a trained service dog (war a=
ssistance in Iraq) that came home OK but went through a hurricane while his=
owner (leader) was away.
The dog was completely traumatized and could not work. (I have to look up t=
he name of the episode)=A0 Anyway, Cesar took the dog right back to its pri=
mal self. He started working in the pool (dog was a lab) in order to reliev=
e stress and built up the dogs confidence through positive enforcement and =
desensitization.
=A0
I think your behaviourist is on the right track with his advice about Eddie=
. Eddie responsed to watching his pack leader taken down was=A0FEAR and the=
n insecurity (which causes aggression)=A0 I think working to build up his T=
RUST in you while you correct (wrong behaviour) and Praise (good behaviour)=
is the right approach.
=A0
I went to your website and watched a few video’s. They are beautiful dogs. =
I would wish you luck to rehab Eddie but we both know that you can make you=
r own luck, by giving a solid rehab routine, consistant corrections and lot=
s of praise. You can reclaim your leader position and build back Eddie’s co=
nfidence in you to gain=A0 his calm submission.
=A0
YES I do agree that dogs will attack FEAR.=A0 Fear is an unbalanced state o=
f mind, the same as aggression, obsession, excitement or any insecurity.=A0=
The dominant dog will seek to regain balance through correcting that behav=
iour but if the other dog takes issue with it then a fight will break out. =
That could be what happened between your dogs.
=A0
Recently, I was walking my dominant 80 pound hound and stopped at a light. =
A man walked in front of me with a shepherd=A0mix dog and I noticed that it=
was looking at my Dango with wide eyes, flat ears and a tail between its l=
egs. (FEAR)=A0 Dango immediately snapped three times at it with a growly te=
ethy correction.=A0 A fearful dog will get corrected by other balanced dogs=
especially=A0by a dominant dog and has recently taken over an alpha positi=
on in the pack due to a wounded leader.
=A0
Take Care and I wish you luck in your plight for justice,=A0 Lori Reynolds

Hi Harriet…Thank you for that input…my vet also mentioned Prozac…They=
had me on anti-depressants after my accident and that is when I almost &qu=
ot;pulled the trigger"…I don’t like that stuff…Time for an update.=
..I had the worst night in my life that Thursday night, I went to bed with =
the decision to have Eddy put down the next morning…Of course I did not s=
leep at all that night unlike Eddy who slept with his huge head on my shoul=
der as I silently teared to myself…

Friday morning I remembered that about a year ago I had Eddy working with m=
e in the local Napa auto parts store and a fellow that worked there followe=
d us out and he met Eddy and admired him greatly…He gave me his card and =
it said
Companion K-9…Behavioral Modification. ..I thought maybe he would like to=
take Eddy…I found his card and left an early message for him…I got a h=
old of him at work and he would meet us Saturday evening @ 6 to evaluate Ed=
dy…

We met Saturday @ 6 and I meet one spectacular man…He has been in law enf=
orcement training and rehabbing police dogs…His list of credentials is wa=
y to long for these fingers to type…Eddy displayed some of his fearful be=
havior and Rob confirmed my feeling…Eddy got broken by that deputy and he=
says the lawsuit is a sure win and Eddy can be healed…He will never be t=
he Eddy prior to the incident but he will once again be happy and productiv=
e at home…Rob says that working for now would not be productive for him..=
.the ‘ol one step forward and two steps back situation would occur…

There will be a lot of leash walking and positive reinforcement as well as =
keeping him from experiencing failures…

I asked Rob about the fight with Charlie and apparently I, the alpha leader=
, was weakened that day the tazing occurred and since Eddy was attached to =
me with the leash belt he too had to go thru that horror… When Charlie ye=
lped Eddy had to take action and he did…the bull mastiff does not tear sk=
in, the mastiff crushes bone, he is very, very powerful…I had to drag bot=
h dogs to the small pool hoping to use the water to stop the fight…Rob sa=
w Eddy’s fear and he is not an "aggressive" dog, just fearful…

Rob showed me his "bottle bomb" a small plastic bottle with 20 pe=
nnies in in…You can use it like a throw chain or just shake it and cause =
a noise that shuts everything down…

I was walking him this morning and 3 joggers and their dog off leash came r=
unning down the road towards us and I saw the Eddy was tensing up…as the =
people got closer their dog veered and was running towards us…I raised my=
hand with the bottle bomb and in my newly learned German spit out an unmis=
takable AUS!!! (that means out)

The pennies rattled, the other dog turned around and went the other way and=
Eddy was surprised and distracted to the point of forgetting about the sit=
uation… I then went into praise mode as he had calmed and the threat that=
had passed…I was once again the alpha and I handled the situation… he =
did not have to do it…

The bottle bomb worked with my other pack members, they were barking at the=
fence and just a toss of the bottle bomb landing at the fenceline shut eve=
rybody down…I really think this bottle bomb will even stop a fight…

Charlie my number two service dog, he is a great public worker, is on injur=
ed reserve for a while and my yellow lab, Noble, is now handling the servic=
e dog duty…He had a good save at my dad’s memorial…

Eddy has worked with me for years and he will stay with me and I will sue t=
he pants off this county and with the 4.5 billion dollars I will build a he=
aling center for the veterans that come home with PTSD and their families..=
. Anybody want a job:-)

Hi Dave,

I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone who I can suggest would be a good home for
your dog… however, it does sound to me like your dog may have developed
the dog equivalent of PTSD, which my dog also developed after a frightening=

situation involving her being attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

In her case, in addition to reworking through training, we needed to put he=
r
on Prozac, and while she is not 100% yet, she is doing MUCH better than
before. Just a thought, that until you can find your dog a new home, you
may want to talk to your vet to find out if putting your dog on Prozac may
help.

HELP!!! I am disabled with a brain injury; absul seizures and I use a
service dog… For the last three years I have been using Eddy, a 108 pound=

bull mastiff/lab mix…He has been a delight to work with and live with…I=

have 5 other dogs as well and I have been using Charlie, blue
healer/something beautiful, with Eddy since April 5, 09…

On that Sunday morning I took my troops down to my front yard commonly
referred to as the doghouse, (long story)…As I pulled up to my gate I saw=

two great Pyrenees in the middle of my fenced yard…One was sitting and on=
e
was standing…

I left my dogs in the truck and approached the two in my yard and the one
sitting down growled at me…I abandoned my approach and went back to the
truck and brought out my two service dogs, Eddy and Charlie..

I turned them loose in the yard knowing that they would befriend the
trespassers (fenced yard/closed gate) and I would be able to safely
approach…

It worked and the approach was not a problem…the dog sitting down allowed=

me to look at his tag and that is when I saw what I only see on the
television news…This dog had a chain wrapped around his belly with a ten
pound bar bell weigh hanging off it…The chain (stout enough to pull a
truck from a ditch) had slid back to his hips and he could not stand up…

I was horrified, mortified and stupefied (taking action under the influence=

of emotion) I took the phone number off his tag and left a angry message…=

I then called the sheriff’s office and told them that I wanted to make a
citizens arrest for cruelty to animals…the dispatcher said they were
busy…

I started to set up my fight stopper, the hose, when two small trucks
pulled up across the street…A lady approached my fence (6 foot) and told
me that she had found those dogs wandering in the road and she put them in
my yard for their safety.

I told her about the chain and also told her the owner was going to be
arrested…she said no don’t arrest him and that she also had a great
Pyrenees that had escaped her yard and killed a chicken…

The next thing I see is a man and a woman leading the Pyrenees from my yard=

and letting my Charlie out at the same time…( I was up the hill from my
gate 20 yards)

I hurried out and got my Charlie out of the road and in my truck… Eddy
was still in the closed yard and I went across the street and gave a pretty=

good lecture on what not to do as well as telling him he was under arrest
for animal cruelty…He said "they are my dogs and I’ll do as I want&q=
uot;…As
he was saying this he stepped forward with his right foot and he was raisin=
g
his right arm…I grabbed a fist full of shirt and held him at arms length
saying "YOU WILL KILL HIM"

He then offered to pay me for my troubles as I turned and walked off
disgusted… I gave both of the women my business card and I called the
sheriff to cancel the call, unless they complained then I wanted to pursue
the citizens arrest…

The people left and I went about my business raking the pine nettles when 2=

sheriff cars and a game warden truck drove by my place and on up the hill..=
.

I was involved in law enforcement in my youth (55 now) and I know that I
should have been talked to first…I raked some more and about an hour late=
r
I put all the dogs except my service dogs, Eddy and Charlie, in the truck
with the air conditioner running…I knew that I would be talking to the
deputies very soon and most likely a lengthy talk.

Sure enough they showed up and parked defensively up the road from my
gate…

I knew things were not going good when I saw that…

Two deputies and one game warden came to my gate and I explained what had
happened and reiterated that I wanted to do a citizens arrest…I also
commented on the fact that there were three of them and asked what the
dispatched call was…The deputy was rude and told me to answer his
questions first as he was writing in his note pad…He then said (this was
all recorded by them and my attorney filed a discovery motion so I have the=

recording) " your stare is not going to do any good" I said &quot=
;I’m just
looking at you, do you have a problem with that? He said "yes I do&quo=
t; then
pulled my gate open aggressively. ..By reflex I went to hold the gate close=
d,
fearful for my dogs lives.

We do not practice the angry armed deputy forcing his way into my yard
routine. Eddy, the 108 bull mastiff was attached to my leash belt with
Charlie…

By the time I touched the fence/gate I was hit with 50 thousand volts and I=

went down…my dogs were still tied to my waist and I was yelling NO NO
NO…I was yelling at the pain and at my dogs…I knew that they would be
shot and killed at the first growl…They then activated the tazer again so=

I took another 50 thou…and the no’s continued… finally the tazing
stopped and I was handcuffed face down in the dirt…I had them put my dogs=

in the truck then drive up to my elderly mother’s house to bring her down t=
o
take my dogs home…she is 76 and can not drive…I live next door and she
is living alone since my dad died…I was arrested and booked for attempted=

murder as well as a host of other charges one of which was assault with a
firearm (there were no guns with-in ten miles of me)…I spent 4 days and 3=

nights in the county jail and I was on no bail…the public defender pointe=
d
out that I had no record and had been in law enforcement so the bail was
reduced to 25 thou…God bless sisters… I got out Wednesday afternoon…

I am still doing the court thing and a lawsuit will follow but here is what=

I need help with…

My number one service dog Eddy, the 108 pound bull mastiff that has been
working with me for the last three years is damaged…I went to court
yesterday and he shook like a leaf on a windy day when near a deputy…a
month ago during a commotion at the fence he went for my throat…He was on=

leash, spun and took out my left wrist, lots of blood, then in one motion
went for my neck planting his teeth in my upper right chest. I was able to
catch him by the jowls and plant him on the ground cussing like a
sailor…the lumber crew that saw the incident said they would put a bullet=

in his head…I LOVE THIS DOG!!! I forgave and continued to work him with
Charlie in the grocery store…He is a lot calmer when working with
Charlie….I have a wild and exciting life here in the Mt. Shasta area…th=
e
doghouse and the grocery store, that is about it for me nowadays since my
hang gliding accident in ‘91…

Today he attacked my Charlie boy…Charlie got his foot stuck on the hose
nozzle and yelped once…that was all it took…the fight was on… Charlie=

got his neck stitched up and he is spending the night at the hospital…My
hands have so many holes in them that typing this l-o-n-ggg letter is
painful…

Bottom line…I need to give my Eddy to a veteran with PTSD…this must be
an alpha man with no other dogs…he must be patient and kind, Eddy will
know…I will teach him how to use Eddy to mitigate his disability and Eddy=

does it very well. My brain injury is very disabling and I need your help t=
o
find the right person…

Eddy and the troops are on my web site and youtube site listed below in my

[DogWhispererFans] Bonding with your dog – two pack leaders?

Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Sox has bonded well with both my husband and me. She does respond to my
husband and obeys him well, but her preference is to be with me most of the
time. Sometimes when we’re in the living room, she’ll lay between us but
most of the time she’s laying by my feet.

I am the person who is with her most of the time – we do the walks and
playtime together – and I do the training – so it makes sense that she sees
me as her pack leader. Leeo goes with us sometimes but not nearly as much as
I would like him to.

When he comes home, she gets SO excited to see him – gives him an exuberant
welcome (almost wiggles out of her skin – lol).

I was concerned before I got her that this would drive a wedge between us,
but instead it’s brought us closer. So I don’t want this "preference" to
become a bad thing. Any suggestions?

Mary

[DogWhispererFans] Re: Canine Good Citizen test

Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi Mary,

It can be given by both. Look for individual dog trainers who are AKC-certified for giving the test. You can find them on the AKC website.

Also check with local shelters and boarding facilities that offer training.

In my case, my dog trainer (who also happens to work at the local SPCA) was teaching a CGC class and she arranged for another trainer to administer the test at the end of the course.

Because of my girl being a pit, and the course being offered and administered through the shelter, an organization (I think it was Bad Rap) is giving the shelter $150 for each pit that passes the test. Not sure of your dog’s breed, but thought I’d mention it just in case.

Good Luck!

I brought out Sox’s breakfast this morning. She was happy to see the food -
lol. I didn’t say anything to her – just looked at her – and she plopped
that little black butt on the ground quicker than you can say "scat" – LOL!

I just did a search trying to find when and where the test is in my area but
nothing came up. Is it given by individuals or by organizations? How often
is it given? I’m trying to get a time frame.

Thanks so much!

[DogWhispererFans] Re: Dog TOO submissive; constantly rolls over

Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Nenah,

Your girl sounds a a lot like my boy, Streak. He is a very submissive
greyhound that rolls over to show you his belly all the time. He
isn’t shy at all though and is very outgoing, just extremely
submissive. He has been the BEST dog!! He is so concerned about
always doing the right thing that he rarely has to be corrected for
something twice. He is the PERFECT dog and just never does anything
wrong. I do rally obedience with him and actually have to be careful
with my corrections and keep them very mild. I have to be careful to
make sure he understands exactly what I want otherwise he could stop
a behavior I wanted permanently because of a poorly timed Shht or ACK.

We had the same problem with the down. He wanted to roll over. I got
him to lay down by having him crawl under my leg to get to a piece of
food on the other side. Got him right into the correct position after
the 3rd try or so. He is a big guy and the first couple of time he
lifted my leg up and slid in so fast it knocked me backwards. LOL. I
wasn’t towering over him or even really facing him so he was much
more comfortable with that. Sometimes when you force a dog into a
position and say "down" at the same time they can associate
resisting with the word rather than the actual position you are
trying to get them in. I would be quiet until you get her in position
then tell her "Good Down!" and be sure to reward her only when she is
in position. If you reward a second too soon you are rewarding her
resisting and a second too late you are rewarding her as she is
getting back up.

Streak also had problems with the stay because he believed he should
follow his pack leader – me – if I moved. So I didn’t move at first.
I gave him a treat for the down. Stayed right there and gave him
another treat for holding the down a second later. I only rewarded on
the floor, never in the air or over his head (that encourages them to
get up). I told him "good stay". I stayed right with him and just
increased the time gradually without moving until he could hold the
position like that for 30 seconds or so easily. Once he understood
that I would take one tiny step toward his rear – not away from him.
Then I would come back to my original position and reward on the
floor again. Gradually I would take more tiny steps but would make a
circle around him instead of away from him. If he started getting up
I went back to what he was successful at and practiced that more
before trying to go on. After I could make a full circle around him
in a stay I started taking a half a baby step backing away from him
then I would go right back and reward him on the floor in the down. I
always walked back to him to reward him and never called him to me
from the stay. I faced him and backed away rather than turning my
back. The release word was OK and he quickly learned to wait for the
OK before getting up. He also learned that I would walk back to him
before I gave the release word. I wouldn’t release as soon as I got
back to keep him from anticipating it and jumping up as soon as I got
back to him. It worked! He was able to do a VERY long down stay in
Rally Excellent while another dog played around on the course and got
his title.

Another thing I had to be careful with early on was eye contact –
that could make him flip on his back and wiggle like a fish. I taught
him to "Look" at me by holding a treat in both closed fists out to my
side. I just stood quietly. He would sniff and try to get each treat
finally he gave up and glanced at me to see what was going on and
then he got the treat. During the first session he figured out the
key was to look at me and made eye contact with me after that without
showing me his belly. I was careful to keep my face neutral to happy
when I was doing it at first. If he even thinks I am mad or upset –
even if I am not – he is more likely to roll over. It is easy to get
stressed in the obedience ring and sensitive dogs like mine and yours
sure pick up on any change of expression.

Streak has been the easiest dog! I am sure you will really enjoy your
girl the way I have enjoyed him. I have had him for 5 years and he is
much more confident than he was but still wiggles around
submissively on his back when he cuddles with us. He knows the
command "Easy" which means to relax and hold still. He is a Therapy
Dog and is a dog I can really trust. He just is not going to snap at
someone, he would roll over and show them his belly if they
accidentally hurt him. When he rolls on his back and waves his feet
at people to get them to pet him everyone falls in love with him.

[DogWhispererFans] Re: need help!!! Damaged service dog by cop attack

Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi Harriet…Thank you for that input…my vet also mentioned Prozac…They had me on anti-depressants after my accident and that is when I almost "pulled the trigger"…I don’t like that stuff…Time for an update…I had the worst night in my life that Thursday night, I went to bed with the decision to have Eddy put down the next morning…Of course I did not sleep at all that night unlike Eddy who slept with his huge head on my shoulder as I silently teared to myself…

Friday morning I remembered that about a year ago I had Eddy working with me in the local Napa auto parts store and a fellow that worked there followed us out and he met Eddy and admired him greatly…He gave me his card and it said
Companion K-9…Behavioral Modification…I thought maybe he would like to take Eddy…I found his card and left an early message for him…I got a hold of him at work and he would meet us Saturday evening @ 6 to evaluate Eddy…

We met Saturday @ 6 and I meet one spectacular man…He has been in law enforcement training and rehabbing police dogs…His list of credentials is way to long for these fingers to type…Eddy displayed some of his fearful behavior and Rob confirmed my feeling…Eddy got broken by that deputy and he says the lawsuit is a sure win and Eddy can be healed…He will never be the Eddy prior to the incident but he will once again be happy and productive at home…Rob says that working for now would not be productive for him…the ‘ol one step forward and two steps back situation would occur…

There will be a lot of leash walking and positive reinforcement as well as keeping him from experiencing failures…

I asked Rob about the fight with Charlie and apparently I, the alpha leader, was weakened that day the tazing occurred and since Eddy was attached to me with the leash belt he too had to go thru that horror… When Charlie yelped Eddy had to take action and he did…the bull mastiff does not tear skin, the mastiff crushes bone, he is very, very powerful…I had to drag both dogs to the small pool hoping to use the water to stop the fight…Rob saw Eddy’s fear and he is not an "aggressive" dog, just fearful…

Rob showed me his "bottle bomb" a small plastic bottle with 20 pennies in in…You can use it like a throw chain or just shake it and cause a noise that shuts everything down…

I was walking him this morning and 3 joggers and their dog off leash came running down the road towards us and I saw the Eddy was tensing up…as the people got closer their dog veered and was running towards us…I raised my hand with the bottle bomb and in my newly learned German spit out an unmistakable AUS!!! (that means out)

The pennies rattled, the other dog turned around and went the other way and Eddy was surprised and distracted to the point of forgetting about the situation…I then went into praise mode as he had calmed and the threat that had passed…I was once again the alpha and I handled the situation…he did not have to do it…

The bottle bomb worked with my other pack members, they were barking at the fence and just a toss of the bottle bomb landing at the fenceline shut everybody down…I really think this bottle bomb will even stop a fight…

Charlie my number two service dog, he is a great public worker, is on injured reserve for a while and my yellow lab, Noble, is now handling the service dog duty…He had a good save at my dad’s memorial…

Eddy has worked with me for years and he will stay with me and I will sue the pants off this county and with the 4.5 billion dollars I will build a healing center for the veterans that come home with PTSD and their families… Anybody want a job:-)

Hi Dave,

I’m sorry, I don’t know anyone who I can suggest would be a good home for
your dog… however, it does sound to me like your dog may have developed
the dog equivalent of PTSD, which my dog also developed after a frightening
situation involving her being attacked by a neighbor’s dog.

In her case, in addition to reworking through training, we needed to put her
on Prozac, and while she is not 100% yet, she is doing MUCH better than
before. Just a thought, that until you can find your dog a new home, you
may want to talk to your vet to find out if putting your dog on Prozac may
help.

HELP!!! I am disabled with a brain injury; absul seizures and I use a
service dog… For the last three years I have been using Eddy, a 108 pound
bull mastiff/lab mix…He has been a delight to work with and live with…I
have 5 other dogs as well and I have been using Charlie, blue
healer/something beautiful, with Eddy since April 5, 09…

On that Sunday morning I took my troops down to my front yard commonly
referred to as the doghouse, (long story)…As I pulled up to my gate I saw
two great Pyrenees in the middle of my fenced yard…One was sitting and one
was standing…

I left my dogs in the truck and approached the two in my yard and the one
sitting down growled at me…I abandoned my approach and went back to the
truck and brought out my two service dogs, Eddy and Charlie..

I turned them loose in the yard knowing that they would befriend the
trespassers (fenced yard/closed gate) and I would be able to safely
approach…

It worked and the approach was not a problem…the dog sitting down allowed
me to look at his tag and that is when I saw what I only see on the
television news…This dog had a chain wrapped around his belly with a ten
pound bar bell weigh hanging off it…The chain (stout enough to pull a
truck from a ditch) had slid back to his hips and he could not stand up…

I was horrified, mortified and stupefied (taking action under the influence
of emotion) I took the phone number off his tag and left a angry message…

I then called the sheriff’s office and told them that I wanted to make a
citizens arrest for cruelty to animals…the dispatcher said they were
busy…

I started to set up my fight stopper, the hose, when two small trucks
pulled up across the street…A lady approached my fence (6 foot) and told
me that she had found those dogs wandering in the road and she put them in
my yard for their safety.

I told her about the chain and also told her the owner was going to be
arrested…she said no don’t arrest him and that she also had a great
Pyrenees that had escaped her yard and killed a chicken…

The next thing I see is a man and a woman leading the Pyrenees from my yard
and letting my Charlie out at the same time…( I was up the hill from my
gate 20 yards)

I hurried out and got my Charlie out of the road and in my truck… Eddy
was still in the closed yard and I went across the street and gave a pretty
good lecture on what not to do as well as telling him he was under arrest
for animal cruelty…He said "they are my dogs and I’ll do as I want"…As
he was saying this he stepped forward with his right foot and he was raising
his right arm…I grabbed a fist full of shirt and held him at arms length
saying "YOU WILL KILL HIM"

He then offered to pay me for my troubles as I turned and walked off
disgusted…I gave both of the women my business card and I called the
sheriff to cancel the call, unless they complained then I wanted to pursue
the citizens arrest…

The people left and I went about my business raking the pine nettles when 2
sheriff cars and a game warden truck drove by my place and on up the hill…

I was involved in law enforcement in my youth (55 now) and I know that I
should have been talked to first…I raked some more and about an hour later
I put all the dogs except my service dogs, Eddy and Charlie, in the truck
with the air conditioner running…I knew that I would be talking to the
deputies very soon and most likely a lengthy talk.

Sure enough they showed up and parked defensively up the road from my
gate…

I knew things were not going good when I saw that…

Two deputies and one game warden came to my gate and I explained what had
happened and reiterated that I wanted to do a citizens arrest…I also
commented on the fact that there were three of them and asked what the
dispatched call was…The deputy was rude and told me to answer his
questions first as he was writing in his note pad…He then said (this was
all recorded by them and my attorney filed a discovery motion so I have the
recording) " your stare is not going to do any good" I said "I’m just
looking at you, do you have a problem with that? He said "yes I do" then
pulled my gate open aggressively…By reflex I went to hold the gate closed,
fearful for my dogs lives.

We do not practice the angry armed deputy forcing his way into my yard
routine. Eddy, the 108 bull mastiff was attached to my leash belt with
Charlie…

By the time I touched the fence/gate I was hit with 50 thousand volts and I
went down…my dogs were still tied to my waist and I was yelling NO NO
NO…I was yelling at the pain and at my dogs…I knew that they would be
shot and killed at the first growl…They then activated the tazer again so
I took another 50 thou…and the no’s continued… finally the tazing
stopped and I was handcuffed face down in the dirt…I had them put my dogs
in the truck then drive up to my elderly mother’s house to bring her down to
take my dogs home…she is 76 and can not drive…I live next door and she
is living alone since my dad died…I was arrested and booked for attempted
murder as well as a host of other charges one of which was assault with a
firearm (there were no guns with-in ten miles of me)…I spent 4 days and 3
nights in the county jail and I was on no bail…the public defender pointed
out that I had no record and had been in law enforcement so the bail was
reduced to 25 thou…God bless sisters… I got out Wednesday afternoon…

I am still doing the court thing and a lawsuit will follow but here is what
I need help with…

My number one service dog Eddy, the 108 pound bull mastiff that has been
working with me for the last three years is damaged…I went to court
yesterday and he shook like a leaf on a windy day when near a deputy…a
month ago during a commotion at the fence he went for my throat…He was on
leash, spun and took out my left wrist, lots of blood, then in one motion
went for my neck planting his teeth in my upper right chest. I was able to
catch him by the jowls and plant him on the ground cussing like a
sailor…the lumber crew that saw the incident said they would put a bullet
in his head…I LOVE THIS DOG!!! I forgave and continued to work him with
Charlie in the grocery store…He is a lot calmer when working with
Charlie….I have a wild and exciting life here in the Mt. Shasta area…the
doghouse and the grocery store, that is about it for me nowadays since my
hang gliding accident in ‘91…

Today he attacked my Charlie boy…Charlie got his foot stuck on the hose
nozzle and yelped once…that was all it took…the fight was on… Charlie
got his neck stitched up and he is spending the night at the hospital…My
hands have so many holes in them that typing this l-o-n-ggg letter is
painful…

Bottom line…I need to give my Eddy to a veteran with PTSD…this must be
an alpha man with no other dogs…he must be patient and kind, Eddy will
know…I will teach him how to use Eddy to mitigate his disability and Eddy
does it very well. My brain injury is very disabling and I need your help to
find the right person…

Eddy and the troops are on my web site and youtube site listed below in my
signature…

[DogWhispererFans] RE: Attention Louise – Advice for excited dog needed

Depends on the type of excitement. IF fear of strange=
rs (Australian Bush Flower essences, Emergency might be helpful)

But there are different types of excitement. General excitement might mean=
a different diet for instance (no grains less carbs can help with that) so=
me use Turkey to great effect for this (Raw meaty bone diet) the people wit=
h little Yorkies loved the turkey/beef mix I used to make for this reason (=
they also added some vit B’s as well).

The Australian Bush flower Essence Calm & clear might also be helpful i=
f for general excitement.

Also if there is sound sensitivity excitement (vit B complex might also be =
helpful.

Need more information if it is something else.

Audra, glad it seems to be going well with the new trainer. Just one thing, though…. I don’t get (at all) the part about him saying to buy from a good breeder! It’s my understanding that ANY dog can have behavior problems. And, so this guy doesn’t believe in rescuing dogs?

Well, today I met the professional dog trainer. He first said that my dog is not aggressive. He is a puppy how just doesn’t know what I want him to do. He started out with a different leather lead and collar.(Didn’t have to pay for it). Second, he took the dog and showed how things work with his sessions..one on one. He mentioned that with a dog like Tyoga, a puppy class is just that a play class. He feels there are so many other dogs, that the trainer can not stop and correct every dog much less see all the mistakes in a half hour. We I decided to hire him. I go with the dog and he takes the dog for an hour and train the dog and I come back and he then trains me. I must then go home and do the same training 3 to 4 times a day not more than 15 mins. Today, we did sit, no, heal and sit stay. All went good. I made a lot of mistakes but he helped me correct. I was doing a popping correction which he said is not right. His technique was smooth and no stress to the dog at all. He noticed little things like when I did the heal and start to walk, I wasn’t using my left leg first. The dog watches that foot to move. Well, all is great with a trainer, lets see how I do. It was amazing all the pic of police dogs and literally 100’s of dogs he was worked with in 25 years. He did say as all do "Next time buy from a good breeder which costs more but in the long run, you won’t have to come to a personal trainer. Lesson be learned. He said the dog is a nice boy and is far from any aggression.
